ok! I hear you!
I’ve had emails asking what about and why are we not in your 2008 review.  It is quite simple. I only keep weddings on my computer that still have work due. That translates to about 700 gigabytes of files at any given time. It saves me time loading and unloading weddings. So when I did the 2008 review I picked stuff from folders on my pc.  Later this week I will go through stuff not on my computer and do a PART II. Perhaps I can add an external Hard Drive and keep some more at my fingertips. I made need the services of Franc! (inside joke…he will get it).

Is It Time Already?
We are counting down the days to Christmas, New Year’s Eve, and then 2009.  Where oh where has 2008 gone so quickly? Some would love to forget 2008, but I reflect on people, events, and places that have came my and Studio D Photography’s way…. I am blessed…very blessed indeed.
We have had brides and grooms, mom and dads, brothers and sisters, wedding parties, babies, kids, seniors, and business people come through our doors this year.
We have put together a little slide show of the ones still on our computers. For these and all the others, thank you for a wonderful 2008. We have had a blast!

Note on the front door…
Noon…. Be right back…upstairs to get a snack.
Translation:
I came back with:
a glass of wine
leftover red beans and rice
crackers
microwave popcorn in my jeans hip pocket
and 5 walnuts in my front pocket
It’s no mean feat to juggle all of this and open and shut doors too!
Do I have a glass of wine every lunch? Not every day, but some. When you are the boss you get to make a few rules and break a few as well. Would I let an employee have a glass as well? You betcha!
So back to the occasion for the wine. Any day I need to take a broom to sweep all the snow off my car IS A WINE FOR LUNCH DAY

Children and Christmas
After Jackson…
I got home to a phone call about photos and an excited sharing another of my couples just found out they are expecting.
It happened last Sunday with another of my wedding couples sharing they too were expecting. Â
I won’t share images without permission, so I just share the news. Babies!!! Oh what joy!  Nothing equals holding a baby. Absolutly NOTHING.

Jackson!

Jackson looking at mommy with adoring eyes. Don’t be fooled by this no tears capture. Jackson was in no mood for cameras pointed at him. Jackson’s first Christmas is coming up in just a few days. He is the son of one of my 2007 couples…their first.   It was a shoot where Jackson was given his passie until he calmed down, pop it out, snap quickly, and put the passie back quickly. IF NOT….loud wails of dissatisfaction greeted our ears.

Cub’s fan? Oh yeah! Mom and Dad entered their wedding reception through an honor guard of baseball bats and Cub’s caps singing “Take Me Out To The Ballgame”. Truth be told Jackson has a hint of strawberry blonde and a touch of redheaded spirited temper.
Merry Christmas, Jackson! I thoroughly enjoyed meeting you last night!

The Shack
In a world reeling from wars, tragedies, deaths, and economic turmoil comes “The Shack” unfurling a story that longs to be told.  A must read, and one you won’t want to put down until you finish it. A master story teller paints word pictures like few of us can.

Vander Veer’s Canine Christmas Walk 2008
Everyone accquainted with me knows pretty soon that I love Vander Veer.  Personally I love going to the park, and I also like to photograph in the park and the conservatory. Saturday was a chance for me to spend the day having fun.  I did not bring backdrops, lighting equipment, nor pile up benches with stuff that would make it hard for others to enjoy the conservatory. Both the day and the night images were captured using just a handheld camera with no flash at all. Optimal? Not at night, but again the desire was to not detract from anyone else enjoying the incredible displays.  I especially liked following with my eyes a little 2 or 3 year old that was totally wide eyed and in awe of all the many many lights.  Priceless!

Andrew & Julia TBW May 24, 2009
It might sound kind of corny for me to say, “they are so cute together.”  BUT they are! They belong together, and there is no mistaking the chemistry between them! We had not met in person until they were looking at me through my camera lens.  They were not given any time to be nervous, stiff, uncertain, or a little withdrawn when meeting a stranger. It was chilly, and we were working without coats. No time to have a “let’s get to know one another” session.
We chatted between shots as we walked to each location. What can I say? I am pumped to photograph their May 24th wedding. They are off traveling back to school, and I won’t see them until the week before the wedding. Something to look forward to! Â
Since the current plan is not to see each other before the ceremony, we couldn’t chat about the bridal gown etc. Darn! I always love hearing about all the wedding plans!Â

John Michael Cooper
Many of you would know him by the now famous Trash The Dress aka Set The Bride on Fire Anti-Wedding. His name is John Michael Cooper, and this past summer I took a one day seminar with him and his wife. Why? The reasons are many:
1. His unique “seeing” people, and his visionary shoots of often ordinary settings
2. His down to earth very approachable attitude coupled with a beautiful willingness to share
3. I love his work
I believe in years to come JMC will be remembered for outstanding photography in his time.

So, what conclusions should you draw from the last two photos? As a bride you will be ran over by an antique car, and it will be because you were taking photos at your wedding while holding a plastic flying saucer on a pool cue!   Absolutly NOT!

Also attending were Stephen and Elaine. We had fun chatting about all the things we saw and heard during the seminar on the drive home.
